Microsoft Chinese officially confirmed that Microsoft will launch two genuine verification plans-Windows Genuine value-added Program ("WGA" for short) in China from January 1, 20th day of this month ") and genuine value-added Office program notifications ("OGA" for short ").

WGA is a technical reminder launched by Microsoft more than three years ago that users are using pirated software. For example, WGA allows users to actively download genuine verification programs, after the program is installed and run, the result is fed back to the user. In addition to verification, it also provides "value-added" services, such as downloading the latest Language Pack for free, and downloading the Perpetual calendar-like gadgets for free.

The WGA plan has been extended so far. Microsoft's WGA, which will be launched in October 20, is the most severe compared with previous versions. The WGA plan is only for Windows XP Professional Edition users. According to IT industry insiders, almost all Pirated Windows XP software in China is Professional Edition, such as various modified versions of XP such as tomato garden. PC manufacturers generally pre-installed Windows XP Home Edition for personal and home users, this type of software is genuine.

The method for installing WGA to users this time is also very different from the previous one. In the past, you had to download it and install it. However, this WGA plan does not use the installation wizard, the user will automatically download after the 20th through the automatic update of the Operating System (Microsoft update), which means that WGA and OGA will be unknowingly downloaded from the pirated user's computer that has the automatic update enabled, if you set it to automatic installation, it will also be automatically installed in the background.

Similar to WGA, Microsoft's genuine office verification is called "OGA" and has never been implemented in China. The genuine verification plan launched in October 20 will include office for the first time, including Office XP, Office 2003, and Office 2007 suite users, covering Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and outlook components.

Within 1st to 14 days after the verification fails, the office user will have a pop-up dialog box reminding the customer that the software running is not genuine. Before the software is converted to genuine, the user receives this reminder for the first time every day and for the next two hours.

From the 1st day after the verification failure, if the verification is not genuine, the dialog box informs the user that if no action is taken, it will be 14 days later (that is, the 1st day after the verification failure ), the office software is added with visual labels. 30 days later, the Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and outlook menus of the office software will be marked with visual labels. The reminder is not genuine. Each time you open these four programs, you will see the corresponding reminder mark.

For more than three years since the release of the genuine verification program, Microsoft has been launching WGA in the operating system field.
