Many beginners, like me, try to install Debian on Vmware first.
To improve the display performance, VMWare will prompt you to install VMware Tools
The installation process is as follows:
Start the Virtual Machine and enter the Debian system.
Choose VM> install vmware-tools from the menu of VMware. It seems that VMware will map the security file to your CDROM.
Mount the optical drive
# Mount-T iso9660/dev/CDROM/mnt
Copy the installation file to your directory.
# Cp/mnt/VMwareTools-5.5.0-18463.tar.gz/home/VMwareTools-5.5.0-18463.tar.gz
Decompress
# Tar zxf VMwareTools-5.5.0-18463.tar.gz
Go to the decompressed directory vmware-tools-distrib and install the tool.
#./Vmware-install.pl
Note! :
You may not be able to find the C header files directory in the security process, which can be solved as follows:
First, check the current kernel version.
# Uname-A for example, Debian 2.6.8-2-386 in Linux
Search its header file.
# Apt-cache search headers 2.6.8-2-386, for example, the result is a linux-headers-2.6.8-2-386
Install
# Apt-Get install linux-headers-2.6.8-2-386
If no development environment is available, run # apt-Get install make GCC,
If not, # apt-Get install gnome-devel
Finally, reinstall vmware-tools.
#./Vmware-install.pl
As a result, windows are much smoother to drag in virtual machines.
