Development Environment PowerDesigner 15, SQL Server2005

(1) Before generating the PDM diagram in reverse direction, you must create an ODBC data source for the specified database. Take the Windows xp operating system as an example. Select "start"/runtime command, enter odbcad32.exe In the runtime dialog box, and click "OK" to start the data source Manager.

(2) In the "ODBC data source Manager" dialog box, click the "add" button.

(3) In the pop-up "Create a new data source" dialog box, select the "SQL Server" option and click the "finish" button, as shown in Figure 1.33.

(4) Select the system DSN, click "add", as shown in Figure 1.34, select the driver for which you want to install the data source as SQL Server, and click "finish ".

In the pop-up "Create a new data source to SQL Server" dialog box, select the "name" text box and enter the name of the new data source, for example, mydb_Odbc. You can enter the description of the data source in the "Description" text box, because the name of the data source often uses the abbreviated form of words, it is easy to forget its meaning as time passes, if the corresponding description information is used together, the meaning of the data source is clearer. In the servers drop-down list box, enter CONTROL-3F43F9E \ SQLEXPRESS (note: this is the name of the SQL Server, as shown in 1.36) and click Next, as shown in 1.35.

(5) In the displayed dialog box, select the "SQL Server verification with the user's login ID and password" option, then, select the "connect to SQL Server to obtain default settings for other configuration options" check box, and enter the user name to access the database in the "Login ID" text box, such as sa, in the "password" text box, enter the password for accessing the database and click "Next", as shown in Figure 1.37.

(6) In the "change default database" drop-down list box in the pop-up dialog box, select the database to operate, for example, mydb of the system, and click "Next", as shown in Figure 1.38, in the displayed dialog box, click "finish" to create a data source, as shown in Figure 1.39.

After the data source is created, you can test whether the connection is normal. As shown in Figure 1.40, click "Test Data Source"

(7) Start PowerDesigner after the data source is created. (1) Create an empty physical data model .) Run PowerDesigner and select the File/New command in the main menu in the main window of PowerDesigner. In the New dialog box that appears, select the Physical Data Model (Physical Data Model, PDM for short) option in the Model type list box on the left, enter the Model name PDM3 in the Model name text box on the right, and select the database management system from the DBMS drop-down list box. PowerDesigner supports many database management systems, such as MySQL 5.0, Microsoft SQL Server 2005, and Oracle Version 10gR2. In the Enterprise Inventory Management System, select Microsoft SQL Server 2005 as the database Server and click OK, as shown in Figure 1.41.

(8) Select the Database/Update Model from Command, as shown in Figure 1.42,

In the displayed dialog box, select the Using a data source radio button,

Click "" on the right, as shown in Figure 1.44. Select the data source you just created

Click "Modify" to Modify the connection configuration properties of the data source. Enter the user name and password, and click connect. the dialog box shown in 1.45 is displayed.

(9) In the pop-up dialog box, select the data table, view, system table that needs to generate the E-R diagram, select the database table that you want to generate PDM, try to wait, click OK to generate the PDM diagram of the database. If there are many tables, wait patiently.
