Map (function, sequence[, sequence, ...]) list

Map incoming functions function sequentially to each element of the sequence and return the result as a new list

>>> def F (a):

Return a*a

>>> map (f,[3,6])
[9, 36]
>>>

>>> def f (A, B):
Return a+b

>>> map (f,[1,2],[3,4])

[4, 6]

Reduce (function, sequence[, initial]), value

Reduce takes a function to a sequence, which must accept two parameters, and reduce calculates the result and the next element of the sequence, and finally returns a value.

>>> def f (x, Y):
Return X+y

>>> reduce (f,[1,2,3,4])
10
