It is believed that most network administrators usually move back and forth between different working subnets, but when performing network management and maintenance operations in a different working subnet environment, network administrators often need to constantly modify the laptop's Internet access parameters so that the laptop can be quickly connected to the corresponding working subnet. Obviously, this is not conducive to efficient network management, it also increases the workload of the network administrator. In order to effectively improve the efficiency of network management, many network administrators have their brains. In fact, we do not need to look for any tools for external assistance, you only need to cleverly set the system's Internet access parameters so that the system can automatically switch the Internet access parameters.

Switching ideas

We know that the Windows system supports configuring multiple IP addresses for the NIC device at the same time. When the NIC device attempts to connect to the network, the first IP address will be selected for work first, once the first IP address is found to be unable to connect to the network normally, the NIC device will automatically try to use the following IP address for network connection until the network can be accessed successfully. In accordance with this working principle, we can manually configure the IP addresses and related Internet parameters of different working subnets to the NIC device at the same time, when the network adapter device is connected to a different working subnet in the future, the network adapter device can automatically make a judgment, shield the IP address that cannot connect to the network normally, and try to use the correct IP address for communication, in this way, the goal of automatically switching the Internet parameters is achieved.

Please note that this type of online parameter switching operation is applicable to the environment where static IP addresses are only valid in the working subnet, if a lan dhcp server is set up in each working subnet, or a working subnet uses a static address and another working subnet uses a lan dhcp server, this type of online parameter switching cannot be performed automatically, because in the working subnet where the DHCP server is installed, the NIC device will first obtain valid Online parameters from the DHCP server.

Switch Settings

In order to enable the laptop system to automatically switch the Internet parameters, we need to set the parameters before switching. To facilitate the description, assume that the laptop needs to switch between subnet A and subnet B. The network address of subnet A is 192.168.0.x, the gateway address is 192.168.0.1, And the subnet mask address is 255.255.255.0, the DNS server address is 192.168.0.1, the network address of subnet B is 192.168.1.x, the gateway address is 192.168.1.1, The subnet mask address is 255.255.255.0, And the DNS server address is 192.168.1.1, we can make the following settings for the laptop system:

First, open the "Start" menu of the laptop system, and then click "set" and "network connection" commands. In the displayed network connection List window, right-click the local connection icon and choose Properties From the shortcut menu to open the attribute setting window for the local connection;

In the General tab page of the property settings window, select the "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" option and click the "properties" button, enter the TCP/IP protocol attribute Settings dialog box, click the "advanced" button to open the TCP/IP protocol advanced settings window shown in 1; click the "add" button in the settings window, in the Add dialog box that appears, set the Client IP address and subnet mask address of subnet A correctly. Assume that the IP address of the client we set is 192.168.0.12 and the subnet mask address is 255.255.255.0. Then, then, follow the same operation method and correctly set the Client IP address and subnet mask address of subnet B. Assume that the IP address of the client we set is 192.168.1.12 and the subnet mask address is 255.255.255.0.

In the "Default Gateway" list box, click the "add" button. In the Add dialog box that appears, add the gateway address 192.168.0.1 of subnet A, and then click "add, add the gateway address 192.168.1.1 of subnet B. Note that the order of adding the gateway address must correspond to the order of adding the previous IP address, set the hops of each gateway address to "automatic ".
