<PRE> <SPAN class = JavaScript id = text501501> recently, many people have been discussing the employment orientation of image processing, and most of them seem pessimistic. I would like to share my views with my experience in finding a job this year.

In my opinion, I think image processing is still a good job. First, we can regard the image as a two-dimensional, three-dimensional or higher-dimensional signal. In this sense, image processing is the best job situation in the whole signal processing, because you must not only master (one-dimensional) basic knowledge of signal processing, as well as knowledge of Image Processing (two-dimensional or high-dimensional signal processing. Secondly, image processing is the foundation of computer vision and video processing. After mastering the basic knowledge of image processing, we can develop towards these directions in employment. Most of the current pattern recognition is also image pattern recognition. In practical applications, most of the collected information is image information, such as fingerprints, bar codes, faces, Iris, and vehicles. When it comes to application scenarios, you must never forget the medical image. If there is a background in medical image processing, it is also a good choice for medical equipment companies or medical software companies. Image processing requires a high degree of programming. If programming is very powerful, of course, there is also an alternative direction for employment, and it is not necessarily limited to the image direction.

Next, let's talk about some of the company information I know, which is incomplete. It's just what I know or what I'm interested in. Actually, it's far more than that.

Search direction
Content-based image or video search is a hot topic in many search companies. To enter this field, you must have strong programming capabilities and a good background for image processing and pattern recognition. It is natural to require high treatment. At present, the Representative companies in this regard include Microsoft, Google, Yahoo and Baidu, all of which are famous.

Medical Image Orientation
Currently, several major companies are competing in medical devices, including Simens, GE, Philips, and Kodak, mainly producing CT, MRI, and other medical equipment. Because the main function of medical devices is imaging, it is necessary to process images and there is a great opportunity to enter these companies for image processing. They have R & D centers in China, Simens in Shanghai and Shenzhen, GE and Kodak in Shanghai, and Philips in Shenyang. Because the medical market is not fully developed, and the price of a set of medical equipment is very expensive, the treatment in these places is still acceptable and promising. Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition
I have never investigated which companies are doing this, but certainly there are many companies, such as fingerprint recognition, face recognition, and Iris recognition. Another major direction is License Plate Recognition. I know that a company, autonavi, seems to be doing well. Currently, video monitoring is a hot issue. You can find a place in this direction for tracking and recognition.
Shanghai fasv is located in Zhangjiang Hi-tech park in Shanghai, and has done a good job in vision and recognition. I also know two companies in Beijing: daheng and Lingyun, both of which are based on images.

Video direction
General universities or research institutes focus on standards formulation and modification and technological innovation, while companies focus on coding and decoding hardware implementation. Generally, these companies are familiar with or proficient in MPEG, H.264, or AVS. If they do well, they will not be worried about the job. As this is not my interest, I have not collected the company information in this area, but I often see it on various BBS or recruitment websites.

In fact, as long as it involves imaging or image processing, it is generally necessary for people. For example, an imaging device needs to enhance or remove noise from the original image before outputting the image, compress the image during storage, and automatically analyze the image content after imaging, these contents are in the scope of image processing. All companies related to images (static or motion images) are an option. Such as digital cameras, microscope imaging, ultrasound imaging, Industrial Robot Control, display, TV, remote sensing, and so on, can all be used as job search directions.

Requirements:
1. Foreign Languages. If you enter a foreign company, the importance of foreign languages is self-evident. Generally, the first round of interviews for foreign companies is an oral English interview.
2. Programming. In this regard, C ++ is the most important. Many companies take the C ++ test.
3. Professional level. If you are looking for a professional job, the research experience and published papers during the Postgraduate period are significant.
4. Width of knowledge. In my opinion, in addition to doing a good job in research, I think it is helpful to broaden my knowledge. Of course, this knowledge refers to image processing, computer vision, and pattern recognition, the wider the knowledge, the more choices you make when you are in employment.

Image processing is widely applied to graduates, and the treatment should be superior to that of graduates. In fact, the ability determines everything. As long as graduate students have never been white for three years, they cannot find a good job.
