Summary of TCP connection throughput rate and line efficiency

Source: Internet

Maximum TCP Throughput = Valid data for a RTT transfer/RTT

line Efficiency = maximum throughput/channel bandwidth

Channel efficiency can be understood as: the ratio of the bandwidth that is actually utilized to be provided.

So you can see a problem.

In a TCP connection, the channel bandwidth is 1gb/s, the sending window is fixed at 65535B, and the end-to-end delay is 20ms. What is the maximum throughput rate that can be achieved. How much is the line efficiency.

Analysis: One RTT = 40ms, so the maximum throughput rate is: 65535b/40ms =13.107mbps.

So the line utilization is: 13.107mb/s/1gb/s = 1.31%.
