Three connection methods of vmware Network
There are three Connection Methods for vmware networks: Bridging, NAT, and Host-only. (When we have Installed VMware WorkStation, it will help us install two virtual NICs: vmnet1 and vmnet8. Vmnet1 corresponds to Host-only, and vmnet8 corresponds to NAT)
I. Basic Concepts1. What is a bridge-based connection? In my analogy, the bridge is equivalent to a parallel connection of the same brother. That is to say, when bridging is used, the IP network segment of the virtual machine is the same as the network segment of the host. 2. NAT (network address Translation) NAT is short for network address translation. What is a NAT connection? NAT is equivalent to a parent-child relationship. That is to say, when NAT is used, the local host is equivalent to a virtual machine gateway. 3. network mutual access between Host-only and virtual machines, but virtual machines cannot access the internet.
Ii. Practical ApplicationNext we will introduce how to use these three methods: 1. Bridging 1.1) First, choose "Virtual Machine"> "Settings"> "network connection mode" in the network adapter. Http://www.2cto.com/uploadfile/Collfiles/20150422/201504221007367.png alt = "\">
1.3) virtual machines can ping each other and the Internet.

2. NAT 2.1) Virtual Machine-> Settings-> network connection mode in the network adapter select NAT mode 2.2) view the Virtual Machine IP address. You can see that the IP address segment of the virtual machine is not the same as the IP address segment of our host.
2.3) the virtual machine can also ping the host and the Internet.

3. host-only 3.1) VM-> Settings-> network connection mode in network adapter select Host-only mode 3.2) view the Virtual Machine IP address. You can see that the IP address segment of the virtual machine is not the same as the IP address segment of our host.
3.3) in this case, open the network and network sharing center-> change the adapter and select a wireless NIC (or wired) to change the properties of the wireless Nic.

Change the Virtual Machine CIDR block to the same CIDR block as vmnet1.

3.4) ping the host and virtual machine to ping each other

If the virtual machine and the host cannot ping each other, they are not set in the same subnet segment. 3.5) You can use secureCRT to remotely connect to a virtual machine. Prerequisites: the virtual machine must install the ssh service and enable this service (apt-get install openssh-server)
Not only does host-only support secureCRT, but also supports remote connection to virtual machines in bridging and NAT modes. (Premise: ping each other with the host)

Iii. FAQs1. When we find that the host and virtual machine cannot be pinged in NAT mode, we need to check whether the IP address CIDR Block of the vmnet8 Nic is the same as the IP address CIDR block of our virtual machine.

We can see that their IP address ranges are not the same, so the ping fails. When we change the IP address range to the same one, we can ping the IP address.

2. in NAT mode, when our host can access the Internet and the host can ping the virtual machine, but the virtual machine cannot ping the host, and the virtual machine cannot access the Internet. (the network segment of vmnet8 is already the same network segment)

The problem may be caused by the fact that the vmware NAT service and the vmware DHCP service are not enabled.
Now we can enable these two services to ping the VM and access the internet.

If we can't connect to the Internet or ping it, you can try again: Open the edit-> Virtual Network editor and click "Restore Default Settings.
