At the same time, the Supervisor also stops people from playing their own nature and stops people from doing what they really want to do.

When I first arrived in Hong Kong, I had a young colleague Y in the opposite department. He is similar to me. He immigrated from Shenzhen to Hong Kong very early in the family, wearing a pair of big Phnom Penh glasses, and looks very brilliant. Y is very important to the Department's boss, and the popularity is also good. My Cantonese pronunciation is not correct. Every time I go to dinner and chat with my colleagues in the opposite department, he "translates" me ".

Shortly afterwards, y disappears from the company. The night before I left the company, I saw him staring at the computer with a pair of hands hitting on the keyboard. The next morning I came to the company at, and he still sat there staring at the computer and pointed his finger at the mouse. I asked, "How come so early ?" He smiled and said, "The boss asked me to finish working overtime ." It turns out that he worked overtime overnight and completed the work required by the supervisor. At that time, his colleagues shared this with each other for a long time, and his superiors praised him specially.

A month later, I suddenly realized that I hadn't seen y for several days. When I asked my colleagues, they all said they didn't see each other, and they were wondering what the situation was. It took another two weeks to get the message about his resignation.

Yes, he left the company and did not even tell his supervisor that day. Just two weeks later, after the disappearance, y sent an email to his supervisor in his private mailbox, saying that he had his own business and did not quit.

I don't want to say that the supervisor is wrong or unreasonable. People are lazy and selfish in nature, and when there are others who supervise their work, they are indeed more efficient than they "do what they want. The supervisor puts pressure on the outside and forces employees to complete their work to ensure that the tasks are completed on time and in accordance with regulations.

However, when people are forced to do things, they will never really agree with it. They will naturally regard this as a burden imposed on their bodies, a humiliation they have to bear to "Eat and save lives. Once there is a chance, this kind of aversion to burdens and humiliation will erupt, with unprecedented destructive power. My colleague y is an example of putting aside the burden in an extreme way when there are other opportunities for the jobs that oppress him, one foot flies to compress all of your own.

I deeply feel that everyone needs to be led, not managed.

Most people do not know what they really want. Steve Jobs said: "customers don't know what they want until you put this thing in front of him ". The vast majority of people do not know what they want to do, what they want to achieve, and who they want to become. They watch Korean dramas at home, talk to their girlfriends on phone, and sleep at night ...... But at the bottom of every person's heart, they all hope to be a better person, even though they may not be aware of this.

Real leaders let people around him clearly understand what they want to do, what they want to own, and what they want to do.

Such leaders inspire people with unknown power, help them set goals to achieve, and lead them to overcome their inner laziness, anxiety, and troubles. They have always been anxious to lead everyone to reach their own hearts, however, they did not dare to imagine the brilliant goals they could achieve. Such a leader is an example for others to stare at and follow: He is firm, wise, rational, and able to understand others. In the eyes of others, he is the shining light in the dark, and the back of Wei 'an walking toward the distant horizon in the sunset.

A good coach will make his players see what they can be rather than what they are.

B leads me instead of managing me

During the summer vacation between the junior and senior students, I applied for an internship at D, a strategic consulting company in New York through the school program and followed B, a senior partner. For a college student who is not yet out of school, I am deeply impressed by the experience of communicating with the elites of the big company and entering and exiting the office buildings of various high-end customers.

At that time, I lived in B's house at night. One night on his way home, B was driving a bmw suv on Highway 66 and suddenly turned to ask me sitting in the co-pilot position: I will go to see the president of BC Bank tomorrow, do you want to join?

After the surprise, I certainly did not hesitate to think about it. So he told me that I needed to study the current business situation of BC Bank at night, and pay special attention to collecting some of the effects of their recent litigation.

When I got home, B went to help my wife cook steak, and I began to lie on the long table in the living room and gather information on the Internet, friends, and insiders. After dinner, I started my research without stopping. That night I read more than 120 reports about BC Bank being sued by New York City Court, 24 analyst analysis reports on bank performance, I also learned the cultural atmosphere of the bank from the alumni who work in the bank. It was not until that I had no sleep. I prepared the materials with confidence and sent them to B. Then I fell asleep.

The meeting with the President of BC Bank was successful the next day.

Throughout the process, B did not "manage" What I did: no specific task list, no rigid time requirements, and no reward for my "on time exceeding the standard" behavior. He just gave me a chance to be excited, gave me a reference direction, and then did all the other work by myself. B leads me instead of managing me.

The experience of getting along with B is one of the important lessons I learned in my life. There are many other classic examples that will be written in future articles.

Here, I would like to suggest that all people who want to become leaders try to do the following:

1. Provide opportunities: provide opportunities to members of your team to engage in challenging jobs that are not within their daily work scope. Do not do the hard-lived and tiring jobs by yourself (~ You are not bothered to do these jobs ~) Try it for others. You are not the only one who can do this job.

2. Build trust: trust people until they are proven guilty. I believe other people can do this unless they have screwed it up more than twice in a row.

3. leaders rather than management: Tell them the direction they should move forward, and then follow their own examples to lead Team members forward. Never try to use rules and regulations to restrain employees (or do not want to be you, unless you want to be a black-faced old demon), and use your own power to influence and lead others.

I have met a team member who can't stand the torture of his superiors and is full of anger. I have also seen a team leader who is nervous, always skeptical, and worried about employee laziness, deception, and mistakes.
