Subtraction Operator (-)

Calculates the difference of two values or the negative value of a numeric expression.

Syntax 1

result = number1-number2

Result

Any numeric variable.

Number

An arbitrary numeric expression.

Number1

An arbitrary numeric expression.

Number2

An arbitrary numeric expression.

Description

In Syntax 1, the-operator is the arithmetic subtraction operator used to calculate the two numeric difference values. In Syntax 2, the-operator is used as a monocular negation operator, representing the negative number of the expression.

If one or two expressions are both null expressions, result is null. If an expression is Empty, it is treated as a value of 0.
