If the Western Digital hard drive (desktop or laptop hard drive) is faulty, you can use the Western Data official detection tool for diagnosis.

Procedure:

Please back up the data in the hard disk before using this tool to prevent loss.

This is Data Lifeguard Diagnostics for Windows. It will test the built-in and external hard drive of WD. In addition, it provides you with the WD hard drive model and serial number that connects to the system.

Description

Download Data Lifeguard Diagnostic,.zip;

Decompress and run the WinDlg.exe program. If you are running Windows Vista (or later), right-click WinDlg.exe file and select run as administrator;

Read and accept the license agreement and proceed to the next step;

There are two windows on the main program screen. In the window above, you can see the hard disks that can be tested in the system. The model, serial number, capacity, and SMART status of each driver are displayed. The partition information of the selected drive is displayed in the window below.

Highlight the drive and select the icon in the top line to run SMART or test its status;

When you select to run the test chart, the "DLGDIAG-select an option" window is displayed;

You will see the following options:

Quick test-perform quick self-check on the SMART drive to collect and verify the Data Lifeguard information contained in the drive;

Extended test-performs a full scan to check whether a bad sector exists. It may take several hours to test the disk capacity;

Write 0-you can choose to delete the disk completely or quickly to delete it. Both the file system and data will be lost.

View test results-display the latest test results;

Select the test to be executed and click start.

After the hard disk detection is complete, you will be provided with pass/failure information, click the close button.
