Windows PE is a computer's smallest operating system for Windows installation preparation. May still not quite understand, so to speak, we can when the computer does not install the system Windows operating environment called PE. PE refers to the Windows Preinstallation Environment, a minimal WIN32 subsystem with limited service, based on the Windows XP Professional kernel that runs in protected mode. It includes the minimum functionality required to run Windows Installer and script, connect network shares, automate basic processes, and perform hardware validation.
What's the use of PE
PE can be used to start a computer without an operating system, partition and format the hard drive, copy the disk image, and network share Windows Installer. You can use Win PE to create, delete, format, and manage NTFS file system partitions.
PE is now commonly divided into a simplified version of PE and version 4.0. Windows PE is a simplified version of Windows or Windows Server, placed in a directly activated CD or DVD disc, featuring the graphical interface of Windows when you activate.
The limitations of PE:
1. The computer must be from a minimum of 256M of RAM.
2. Windows PE does not provide server functionality.
3. Windows PE does not support the. NET Framework.
4. To prevent Windows PE from being used as a common operating system, Windows PE is automatically restarted after the initial boot loader starts 72 hours.
5. Windows PE requires a display device that is compatible with the Video Electronic Standards Association (VESA).
