What does the cache mean? when we use the QQ live software, we will find that a cached folder is called cache. Some friends are curious, what does this cache mean? In fact, cache refers to cached SRAM, that is, static memory. This memory usually keeps the data unchanged unless the new data is rewritten or power is turned off.

Because the CPU speed is much faster than memory and hard disk, the CPU waits when accessing data, which affects the speed of the computer. SRAM is accessed faster than other memory and hard drives, so it is used as a cache for computers.

With a cache, you can first write the data to it, you need to read it directly from it, which shortens the CPU wait time. The reason that caching improves the speed of a system is based on a statistical pattern the control system on the motherboard will automatically count which data in the memory will be used frequently, so that the data is in the cache, the CPU to access the data, it will first go to the cache to find, thus improving the overall speed of operation. Generally speaking, 256K cache can increase the average speed of the machine by about 10%.

The internal cache of the CPU is called internal cache (Internal cache) or a level cache, and the cache on the motherboard is called an external cache (External cache) or a level two cache. But now the CPU of Pentium II has encapsulated the two level cache on the motherboard in the CPU box, AMD k6-3 CPU internal also integrates 256K two cache, for this kind of CPU, the motherboard provides is already three level cache.

Caching is used to store some temporary files. The Web page is automatically stored on the user's hard disk while browsing the web. The next time you browse the same site, the system will automatically pull the page from the hard drive, saving time and reducing network exchange.
