2. Windows 2000 Service Settings

There are many default system services in Windows 2000 that are used primarily to coordinate a system's functionality or some features (such as a network, printer, etc.) to make the system easier to use and useful. However, turning off services that you don't want or are useless to you can speed up system startup and reduce system overhead (which is a bit like shutting down those hosting programs). The consequence of this, of course, is to limit the ability of the system in some ways.

There are three settings for each system service: Automatic, start running with system startup, manual, start when accessed by another service, or when the program is run, fail, turn it off, and no longer work. Therefore, the author suggests that some services can be set to manual state, which will not increase the system expense, or it can be opened when needed.
