1. Disk Management: 1.1. Use the DiskPart command line tool to create an extended partition:
Windows comes with a Disk management tool, but in which you cannot find how to create an extended partition (the general MBR partition format requires an extended partition). We have to turn to the command-line tool for things that are not going to work in the graphical interface. The following is a network of people praised a method, the first excerpt from this:
WIN7 can create an extended partition with Disk Management on the command line. Run CMD into the command line and run DISKPART (case sensitive). When you run the list disk after you enter DiskPart, a list of disks is displayed, and 0 and 1 are displayed if there are two disks. If you want to work on the first hard disk, select Disk 0 and the selected object will be the focus. It is important to note that you must select a focus before you can manipulate it, and to manipulate another object to make the object a new focus. (Command to view focus: List disk/vol/partition This command lists the existing disks/volumes/partitions, where the item with * is the current focus.) After selecting the focus hard drive, you can enter the partition command, and the command to create the extended partition is created Partition Extended, note that the extended partition will include all the free disk space.
After creating the extended partition in the "Disk Management" there will be a corresponding display, you can exit the command prompt, using the graphical interface "Disk Management" in the extended partition to create a logical drive, right-click on the extended partition, choose to create a simple volume, the system will automatically identify should be created as a logical drive.
