WinRoute is a server software running in Windows 95/NT, set router, proxy server, Mail server, Firewall, network Addresstranslator, Scheduler function in one, connect your local area network to the Internet.
First, installation
Download WinRoute first. After installation restart the computer, the system automatically installs the WinRoute service.
Second, set up Winrouter
You need to set up a unique IP address for WinRoute in the local area network. such as the IP of the network card is: 192.168.0.1, in "Mask" fill in the 255.255.255.0;modem IP address in the dial-up after the generation, there is no choice. In the interface table, open the NAT feature of the Internet interface while preventing the NAT feature of the Internal network (NIC) interface.
(i) Use of a built-in DHCP server:
The DHCP server using WinRoute can automatically configure the network to simplify your configuration of the LAN workstation. When using a DHCP server, the settings you want to perform on the workstation simply set them to automatically obtain an IP address from the DHCP server.
1, select Menu Settings→dhcp server.
2. Select the DHCP Server check box and click the Add New scope button.
3, specify the range of IP addresses that the DHCP server assigns to workstations. Please keep in mind that your WinRoute host has already used an IP address, so avoid using it. The IP address must be within the same subnet.
4. Specify options (important). In the options option, use to specify other information assigned to the workstation. Check the box in front of each section of the dialog box, enter the appropriate information, typically enter the default gateway and DNS server address (typically using WinRoute as a DNS server), at which point you will use the WinRoute host's internal IP address (for example, 192.168.0.1). You can keep other items blank.
You can also use other third-party DHCP servers, but at the same time your network must have only one DHCP server running!! Check to see if your third party DHCP server assigns the correct information to your client workstation. For example, the default gateway, IP address, DNS, must be set to the internal IP address of the WinRoute host.
(ii) Use of built-in DNS forwarding:
In most cases, you can use the WinRoute built-in DNS forwarder as your network computer's DNS server. Verify that the WinRoute DNS forwarder is open and well configured.
