Word can only open the solution in Safe mode

Solution One: Manually delete Normal.dot. (The recommended workaround in most cases)

Step 1: Locate the path where the file is located. In Word, select the menu [Tools]-[option]-[file location], and then double-click User Templates to pop up a modify Location dialog box where you can find the path to the Normal.dot file, for example: C:documents and Settingsadministratorapplication datamicrosofttemplates. Where the administrator can be the other login username.

Step 2: Remove the Normal.dot

If you can't find the Normal.dot file, in the folder window, press the Tools menu-open Folder Options Select the View tab to set "Hide files and folders" to "Show All Files and folders", and then search for Normal.dot.
