Usually, a lot of people are typing text, use the "font", "Font size" and other commands to format the text, use the "Justify", "center," and so on to set the alignment of the paragraph, but such an operation to repeat many times, and once the settings are not reasonable, but also to be modified.

Although we can use the format brush to brush the modified format in turn to the other need to change the format of the place. However, if there are dozens of, hundreds of such changes, also have to brush dozens of times, hundreds, then we have become white-collar "painter"?

Using styles makes it easy to solve this type of problem.

Simply put, a style is a collection of formats. Generally speaking, "format" often refers to a single format, such as "Font", "Font size" format, and so on. Each time you format, you need to select a format, if the format of the text is more complex, you need to make several different formatting. A style is a collection of formats that can contain almost any format and can be set to text and paragraphs one at a time by simply selecting a style.

The style is also very simple when set, after the design of a variety of formats, a name, you can become a style. Typically, you can simply use the preset styles provided by Word 2007, and if the preset styles don't meet your requirements, modify them slightly based on the preset style.

For example, to view or modify the current active body style settings, right-click from the toolbar and select Modify from the pop-up shortcut menu, as shown in Figure 1.

In the "Modify Style" dialog box that pops up, you can see the specific style settings for the current body, as shown in Figure 2.

In Figure 2, show the document's font, for (Chinese) + Chinese text, (default) + body, justified, line spacing to single spacing, style to Quick style.

The Normal style is the default style in the document, and the text in the new document usually takes the body style. Many other styles are set by formatting changes based on the "body" style. So the Normal style is the most basic style in Word 2007, and don't change it easily, and once it is modified, it will affect all other styles based on the Normal style.

"Heading 1" ~ "Heading 5" is a heading style, and they are typically used at all levels of heading paragraphs, and the most different styles are the heading styles that have levels, respectively corresponding to the level 1~5. This allows you to get a document map, outline, and table of contents based on the level. Word 2007 adds a lot more styles than Word 2003, as shown in Figure 3, such as referenced styles, reference styles, and so on.

Figure 3 Alternative Styles

First, set the heading style

Usually you choose a clear and eye-catching style for the title, and the user can select the appropriate heading style directly in the style group of the Start Command tab, for example, to enter the title of a part of the article, and note that the position of the cursor is in the paragraph where the current heading is, as shown in Figure 4

You can quickly set the style for this heading by clicking the Heading 4 style from the toolbar task pane, as shown in Figure 5. The format of the caption is set to the heading 4 style as required.

Second, set the body style

For the body, you can also type text, while setting the style used for that part of the text. For example, create a new style named "Style 2" and set its properties and formatting, noting that both the style datum and subsequent paragraph styles are set to the main page indent 2.

Third, set style shortcut keys

In the Modify Style dialog box, click the Format button, and then select the shortcut Key command, as shown in Figure 6.

Open the Customize Keyboard dialog box, as shown in Figure 7. At this point, press the shortcut key you want to set on the keyboard, such as "ctrl+1" in the Press new shortcut key text box to display the shortcut keys. Be careful not to enter a shortcut key directly in it, but you should press the shortcut key. Click the OK button and the shortcut key will take effect.

Use the same method to specify shortcut keys for other styles as well. Now you can format text in a document, and then press a style shortcut key to quickly set it.

Four, modify the style

When the contents of a document are in a system-preset style, the format may not fully meet the actual needs. For example, the font size for the Heading 1 style is too large, and it is left-aligned, and you want to use a smaller font size and center alignment, and you need to modify the preset style.

Move the mouse pointer to the heading 1 style in the task pane, right-click, and click Modify on the shortcut menu that pops up. Opens the Modify Style dialog box.

Select the Automatic Updates check box, and click OK to complete the setup. This will automatically change the format of the Heading 1 style when the formatting of text and paragraphs with the style 1 style has been changed.

Select a paragraph of text that takes a heading style, and then use the Formatting toolbar to set the font size and center alignment. Note All text and paragraphs in the document that use the Heading 1 style will be formatted together, without having to change the format brush one by one.

Also, in Word 2007, click the Change Style button in the Styles group, and then click the Style Set command, which allows users to select more than 10 style schemes directly without having to configure the complex configuration process to set up a standard, aesthetically pleasing style for their documents.
