Symptoms

In Access 2007, you may experience performance degradation when viewing records in a lookup field containing a table. This problem also occurs when you view records in a query.

Reason

A problem occurs because no bound column in the Lookup field lookup table contains an index.

Solution

To resolve this issue, create an indexed pair bound column in the lookup table. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Start Access for 2007 years.
2. Open the database.
3. a. in Design view, open Table A. Note Table A indicates that the table contains lookup fields. b. Click the Lookup field, click the Lookup tab, and then note the values in the Bound column field. c.
4. To create an index:
A. In Design view, open Table B. Note Table B represents the lookup table.
B. Click the binding column, the name found in step 3c.
C. On the Design tab, click the index in the Show/Hide group.
D. In the Index window, create the index for the column, and then close the window.
