CentOS 5 Manual partitions to install the system method _linux

There is no need to dwell on the relationship between CentOS, Fedora and Redhat. Redhat I can't afford it, its anti-piracy work is very good, so I have never used redhat. Fedora is my first contact with Linux on a system, I think it is very good, but it is updated too fast, I believe that a lot of rookie like me have been hesitant to update when the new version came out. CentOS is said to be the same as redhat, some people say that in addition to the logo, the two are completely consistent, but some people say that the two are not exactly the same, the difference between the two in the application has a subtle difference; whether it works well, remains to be inspected.

I used a manual partition at the time of installation, and I'll talk about the general process, and no other specific steps are mentioned here.

Let's start by reviewing the process of creating an LVM:
1. Partition a blank hard disk space
2. Create PV on this blank space
3. Create VG on PV
4, according to the need to create LV on the VG

After selecting a manual partition, the following interface appears. The top of the interface is the hard drive basic information, the middle is six buttons, used to partition the hard disk, below is the hard disk partition information.

As we can see, this is a piece of unpartitioned hard disk size 20G.

Second, click the New button in the middle of the interface to create a/boot partition. This divides the hard drive into two parts: the/boot partition and the blank partition. Next we're going to create LVM on a blank partition.

Select the blank partition, click the Edit button, eject the window, and select Physical Volume (LVM) in the file System type. This step is to create PV.

Now, let's create the VG. Select the Create PV and click the LVM button to eject the Make LVM Volume Group window. We choose name as the default VolGroup00, the PE is modified to 4M, the default PE is 32M.

After the creation of the good VG, we will create the LV on it as needed. I've divided home, Var, swap, and/four LVM partitions, and here's how to create a swap partition.

Open the VG window, click the Add button in the lower right, and the File System type selects Swap, name to Lv_swap, and the size is set to 1000M.

Create a home, VAR, and/partition by following the method of creating the swap partition. The following image is the completed hard disk partition information.

Here, creating the partitions manually is done.

Let's recall, if you choose the system to automatically create partitions, what is the case. When the system automatically creates partitions, it creates three partitions: a separate/boot partition and two logical volumes named LogVol00 and LogVol01, LogVol00 to/partition, and LogVol01 to swap partitions.

Think again about what happened when we started the system with the Grup command line. Booting the system with the GRUB command line requires specifying/BOOT partitions, kernel images, and root partitions, initrd.img. In the case where the system is automatically partitioned, when the root partition is specified, we enter the roroot=/dev/volgroup00/logvol00.

In this manual partition, I changed the name of the swap partition, but did not change the name of the root partition, so there was no change when the root partition was specified, and if the name of the root partition was changed, the root partition name in the command line should be adjusted accordingly when specified.
