CentOS 7 How to modify host names

Hostnamectl

In version 7, hostname has three forms

Statically (static host name)

Dynamic (transient/dynamic host name)

Alias (Pretty host name)

Query Host Name

Hostnamectl or Hostctl status query host name

HOSTNAMECTL status [--static|--transient|--pretty]

Modify hostname

Hostnamectl set-hostname servername [--static|--transient|--pretty]

Delete hostname

Hostnamectl Set-hostname ""

Hostnamectl set-hostname ""--static

Hostnamectl set-hostname ""--pretty

Modifying a configuration file

Hostname name

Vim/etc/hostname

Modify through Nmtui, then restart hostnamed

Systemctl Restart Systemd-hostnamed

Modify through Nmcui, then restart hostnamed

NMCLI General hostname ServerName

Systemctl Restart Systemd-hostnamed
