The purpose of this experiment is to record the complete process of installing the centos 6.2 server.

Host Machine: Dell poweredge 380, Intel core2 duo CPU e7500 2.93 GHz, 4 gb ram, 64-bit Windows 7 flagship edition.

VM software: VMware Workstation 7.0.1 build-227600.

Centos version: centos 6.2.

1. Open vmware workstation and create a centos Server Virtual Machine. Note that the memory here can be divided a little more appropriately (I have allocated 1024 MB), and the network chooses the NAT mode. After creation, the first downloaded centos DVD file will be mounted to the VM Optical Drive.

2. Start the centos Server Virtual Machine. The centos installation menu is displayed. Select the first item "install or upgrade an existing system" and press the Enter key to continue.

3. centos InstallationProgramAfter the initialization, the system prompts you to find the installation media, that is, the optical drive. To confirm that you do not need to check the integrity of the installed media, select "Skip" to skip.

4. Click "Next" in the lower right corner of the welcome screen of the centos installation program.

5. Language used during installation. Select "English" and continue.

6. the keyboard type used by the system. Select "U. S. English" and continue.

7. Types of storage devices. Select basic storage devices and continue.

8. centos storage device warning. Because we use a brand new hard disk, the installer cannot find the partition table and file system on it. Select "Yes, discard any data" and continue.

9. Set the computer name. We use the default value "localhost. localdomain" and continue.

10. Set the time zone. Select "Asia/Shanghai" and continue.

11. Set the root password. After setting, click "Next" to continue.

12. Hard disk usage. Because it is a brand new hard disk, we simply choose "use all space", use the centos default partitioning method, and then continue.

13. Warning: Check whether partition information is written to the hard disk. This will cause loss of original data on the hard disk. Select "Write changes to disk" and continue.

14. Installation type. Select the default type "minimal" and continue.

15. Execute the installation. Because the installation is minimal, this process takes a short time (less than 5 minutes ).

16. installation is complete. We are prompted to restart the system. We recommend that you update the system after the restart. Click "reboot" to restart the system.

17. restart the system. Because the installation is minimal, the text interface is displayed. Enter the root account. The password is the password set in step 1.

So far, the centos system has been successfully installed, followed by a long setup process.
