I started to learn about Linux today. I mainly learned how to use servers. So I chose CentOS as the Linux release. Why do I choose CentOS? One reason is that Red Hat Enterprise Linux has compiled the source code according to the open source code. Because of the same source code, some servers that require high stability use CentOS instead of the commercial version of Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Another reason is that it is FREE, hahaha.

 

Get CentOS Software

Http://www.centos.org/download/mirrors/choose to pick up the route speed. For example, 163 of http://mirrors.163.com/centos/6.5/isos/

Because the purpose of learning is to use the server, downloading the minimal version has the advantage of minimizing the system (ISO documentation is very small), but security is indispensable.

 

Install CentOS

Create a new Virtual Machine Based on VMware Workstation 10. It is basically not modified. It is installed by default. The hard disk is divided into two zones: sda1 and sda2, and sda2 adopts the LVM mode. The advantage is that it is easy to add hard disks in the future.

About the default installation, it is not clear about Linux, in fact, the installation is the hard disk partition needs to be concerned, other basic nothing to see. The use of the hard disk is completely different from that of the Window system. Therefore, select the default partition for this disk. In fact, the LVM partitioning method is very suitable for adding hard disks in the future, especially when servers need to add Hard Disks without downtime.
