Example of installing Erlang on CentOS 7

Compiling source code

Download source code from Erlang website

$ wget http://erlang.org/download/otp_src_19.1.tar.gz

Installation dependencies

$ sudo yum install gcc gcc-c++ glibc-devel make ncurses-devel openssl-devel autoconf git

Unzip the first step of the download source code

$ tar zxvf otp_src_19.1.tar.gz

Installation

$ CD opt_src_19.1
$./otp_build autoconf
$./configure && make && sudo make install

Verify

$ erl

Install from Fedora Library (not recommended, version too old)

Installation of Fedora EPRL

$ sudo yum install Epel-release

Installing Erlang

$ yum Install Erlang
