Example of installing PostgreSQL9.4 in CentOS

Add a software source. PostgreSQL 9.4 is used as an example.

Yum install http://yum.postgresql.org/9.4/redhat/rhel-6-x86_64/pgdg-redhat94-9.4-1.noarch.rpm

Install database

Yum-y install postgresql-server limit sql94 postgresql94-devel

Create a database directory and Grant IPVs user permissions

Mkdir-p/home/pgsql/data
Chown-R postgres: postgres/home/pgsql/

Switch the user and initialize the Database Directory

Su-postgres
/Usr/pgsql-9.4/bin/initdb-D/home/pgsql/data/-E UTF-8 -- locale = en_US.UTF-8

Use the root user to modify the startup script

Vim/etc/init. d/postgresql-9.4

PGDATA =/home/pgsql/data # Change the PGDATA value to the new database directory.

START database

/Etc/init. d/postgresql-9.4 start
