Linux Kernel 2.6.30 has been released, with hundreds of changes compared with the previous version, including a new suspend/resume architecture, Linus Torvalds, father of Linux) said, this function will bring the kernel Into a New World Order.

Towoz announced to the Linux kernel mail list that he hoped to enter a new world order by re-designing the pending/resuming interrupt requests. Of course, I think many details still need to be modified.

Towoz said, I believe we have something missing and we have some shortcomings to be fixed. but in general, it is very good. We have fixed some shortcomings in the last few days. We will definitely have 2.6.30.x in the future.

Major kernel versions include 2.2, 2.4, and 2.6. More features are being added to minor versions, and 2.6.30 is no exception.

According to Kernelnewbies.org, 2.6.30 has added support for many file systems, including NILFS2, an object-based storage device, and a buffer layer for locally cached NFS data; distribute reliable RDS protocols among servers in the cluster, Distributed Network File System (POHMELFS), and automatic refresh of Renamed files in ext3, ext4, and btrfs.

Towoz said that, like before, I will wait a day or two before I really publish its details. I hope people will really test this version of the kernel.

In addition to file systems, another major change is device-driven, with hundreds of modifications, as well as storage, graphics, and networks (including wireless) enhanced support for sound, digital TV, USB, FireWire, and Bluetooth devices.

If the device supports Linux based on Kernel 2.6.30, it will bring a better experience to end users.

The kernel also supports staging drivers, which is currently in the early development stage. Although it is a pilot function, it is still included in the source code tree, to promote its development and stability.

CPU development is centered around x86 desktops and servers and the ARMy mobile architecture.
