VMware Tools is an enhanced tool that comes with VMware virtual machines, equivalent to the enhancements in VirtualBox (Sun VirtualBox Guest additions), which VMware offers to enhance virtual graphics and hard disk performance, And a driver that synchronizes the virtual machine with the host clock.

Only VMware Tools is installed in the VMware virtual machine to enable file sharing between the host and virtual machines, colleagues can support free drag, the mouse can move freely between the virtual machine and the host (no more pressing ctrl+alt), and the virtual machine screen can be full screen.

Virtual machines that have VMware Tools installed can view information such as the virtual machine's IP address through the summary section of VMware VSphere Client.

First, the CentOS system installs VMware Tools (this article takes CentOS 6.5 as an example)

Virtual machines that do not have the VMware Tools tools installed, in the vsphere Client, the summary options are displayed as follows:

This document takes CentOS 6.5 as an example, and I tested the Centos7.2 installation of VMware Tools in accordance with CentOS 6.5, which is not listed here.

1. Open the control side of the virtual machine where you want to install the VMware Tools tool, select "Virtual Machine", "Client", "Install/upgrade VMware Tools (M)", then click "OK":

2. Enter the virtual machine system and command to mount the VMware Tools Tool installation package:

mount/dev/cdrom/media/#将安装VMWare tools image is mounted to the/media directory:

3. To see if the image was mounted successfully:

Cd/media

Ls

4. Unzip the VMware Tools Tool installation package (VMWARETOOLS-9.4.0-1280544.TAR.GZ) to the specified directory:

Tar zxvf vmwaretools-9.4.0-1280544.tar.gz-c/tmp #将压缩tar包解压到/tmp folder

5. Switch to/tmp folder to view the extracted files
Cd/tmp

6. Switch to the Vmware-tools-distrib directory, view the files, and then compile the installation:

Execute the installation file vmware-install.pl

(Note: The virtual machine system on which VMware Tools is installed is the CentOS 6.5 version, the system does not have a Perl installation package installed, the Perl package needs to be installed with the Yum source, and then the VMware Tools installation files are executed; Centos7 version of the system, direct implementation of VMware Tools installation files, no errors)

Yum-y Install Perl # yum Source Installation Perl

7. After the error is resolved, continue compiling and installing the VMware tools tool:

./vmware-install.pl

Installation files start installation, the following paths are selected by default (press ENTER directly)

8. The VMware Tools tool installed successfully, review the summary option status:

Windows systems that do not have VMware Tools installed are shown in the summary options in the VMware vSphere client clients as:

1. Open the control side of the virtual machine where you want to install the VMware Tools tool, select "Virtual Machine", "Client", "Install/upgrade VMware Tools (M)", then click "OK":

2. Go to the virtual machine where you need to install VMware Tools, turn on your computer, and select the disc image:

3. Double-click the image file you want to install, then install it, then click Next:

4. Select "Typical Installation" and click "Next":
