  • Linux is strictly case sensitive (command, file name, user name, etc.)
  • All Linux content is saved as a file, including hardware

Hard disk File is/dev/sd[a-p] (A,p is the drive letter name)

CD-ROM files are/dev/sr0 etc.

  • Linux does not differentiate file types by extension and relies on file permissions to differentiate
  • All Linux storage devices must be mounted before users can use them, including hard disks, USB drives, and discs
  • Programs under Windows cannot be installed and run directly under Linux
