Mapublisher provides good guidance for my map development work. The following is the content of Mapublisher9.5 for Adobe Illustrator, my development of MapDesign, the map ing plug-in under illustrator, also referred to him to a great extent.

2. import GIS vector data

2.1 import data

1. Click Import from the MAPublisher toolbar. Alternatively, choose File> Import Map Data> Import from the menu.

2. Select EsriShapefile from the format drop-down box and Click Browse.

3. Locate \ Quick StartData \ Vector Files \ Geodetic Data, select all Files, and click open.

The four files are listed in the dataset box in the import dialog box.

The preceding import dialog box is in simple mode. To view the coordinate system of the selected file, click the Advanced button. It shows that their coordinate system is WGS84. the coordinate system information is stored in the shapefile projection format file (. prj ). MAPublisher can import multiple files at a time, but the file format is the same as that of the coordinate system. You can switch between simple mode and advanced mode freely.

4. Click OK to start

Note: On the Adobe Illustrator layer panel, there are four layers: River_line, Water_area, Land_area, and Parks_area. On the map view panel, a new map view contains layers.

5. On the map view panel, double-click the new map view to edit it. Change the name to "First MAP View" and click "OK.

2.2 use multiple data imports to import data

When multiple data imports are used, you will add additional vector data of different formats.

1. Click Multiple Data Import from the MAPublisher toolbar. Alternatively, choose File> Import MapData> Multiple Data Import from the menu.

2. Click Add to open the Add dialog box. In the format drop-down list, select Esri Shapefile. Click Browse, go to \ Quick StartData \ Vector Files \ Projected Data, select Hotels. shp and sort ants. shp, click open, and OK.

3. In the multi-data import dialog box, click Add and select MapInfo Interchange Format from the Format drop-down list. Click Browse, select Boundary. mif and Neighbourhoods. mif, click open, and then OK.

4. Click Add. Select MapInfo Table from the format drop-down list. Click Browse to open the data source browser, select Roads. tab, click open, and then OK.

The dialog box shows all data layers. MAPublisher automatically detects that the data has an NAD83/UTM zone 10N coordinate system. More information is displayed below.

5. In the Destination MapView section, set the New based on option as the default value and click OK.

The Newbased on option is a new target map view of the coordinate system listed in the drop-down list. The Useexisting option selects an existing map view as the target. In this tutorial, the first option is to provide an example where a multi-map view exists in a canvas.

Note that there are five layers: Hotels_point, Boundary_are, Neighbourhoods_point, Restaurants_point, and Roads_line. You may need to zoom in to view their overall situation. On the map view panel, a new map view (default name: Hotels) contains the added layers.

6. On the map view panel, double-click the new map view to edit it. Change the name to Vancouver Downtown. Click OK.

The layers in the two map views do not match because they are based on different coordinate systems (WGS84 and NAD83/UTM zone 10N) and two different map scales. Tutorial 3 provides the re-projection step to make all layers in a coordinate system. Next, you will need more data.

2.3 import point data

1. Click Import from the MAPublisher toolbar.

2. Select DelimitedXY Text Data from the format drop-down list. Click Browse, go to \ Quick Start Data \ additionalfiles, select pointsofinterest.csv, and click open. In the import dialog box, click the Required setting are missing link.

3. In the Delimited XYData Settings dialog box, select Decimal Degrees (D + [. d *]) from the format drop-down list.

4. confirm that the Use first lienas a header option is selected. If it is automatically detected, this option is automatically selected.

5. Select longpolling:-123.127416 In the Longitude drop-down list in the coordinate bar. In the Latitude drop-down list, select Latitude: 49.299093

Set Specify Shcema and Display Options to the default value. These options allow you to customize each attribute column and apply the default symbols. For more information, see MAPublisher 9.5 user manual.

6. Click OK.

Text documents do not contain coordinate reference information, so they must be specified. In this exercise, you will provide XY text data using the same coordinate system information as the first map view.

7. Click the Advanced button if necessary. In the Coordinate Reference System Section, select Same As option and select First MAP View from the drop-down list.

8. Click OK to continue the import.

9. Since the First MAP View is selected as the coordinate system, select Add to: First MAP View in the Destination MAP View area.

10. Click OK to add the point of interest to the first map view.

On the Adobe Illustrator layer panel, a new layer named PointsOfInterest_point is added. He is also in the first map view on the map view panel. In the following tutorial, you will re-project the first map view to the verdowntown map view.

Save the document as Vancouver Downtown. ai to the Quick Start Guide & Data directory. Make all options default.
