For Linux developers, it is often necessary to install centos on a Windows 7 system to implement dual-system switching. I will share the following information with you based on the installation methods found on the internet and my own practices. I hope this will be helpful.
Required software:
Easybcd: to add and modify a startup Item
Partassist: partition assistant for hard disk operations
Wingrub: to check the Partition Number, you must experiment one by one.
Install them separately.
Step 1:
Use the partition assistant to separate GB of free partitions on the hard disk, and then use 10 Gb of space as the partition for storing the installation files. format the 10 Gb partition as a FAT32 file system, because centos cannot recognize the NTFS file system (note that the maximum size of a single file supported by FAT32 is 4 GB, and the size of an image file stored in this partition should be smaller than 4 GB ).
Decompress the images and isolinux folders in the downloaded image file dvd1 to the new 10 Gb partition, and copy the two DVD image files.
Step 2:
Open wingrub and enable the partion list option in tools.
Obtain the numbers hd0, 4 for the newly created FAT32 partition. (each partition has a different ID. Remember your FAT32 Partition Number)
Enable easybcd and add the startup Item for installation.
Configure pilot
Restart the system.
After the reboot, select neogrub boot in the boot item, and then select centos to install.
Step 3:
Start System installation.
Select the language and simplified Chinese. English is selected by default and can be modified by yourself. Select hard drive to install from hard disk.
Next, select the partition where the installation file and DVD are located. You can try it one by one. each user has a different disk partition. The interface is shown in the following figure:
OK.
Next, select the region. The next steps will not be repeated.
When selecting the disk space to be used for system installation, it is best to select the following option to indicate custom:
Start to customize
Select free (idle). (It is very important that selecting other Windows partitions will cause system crash or data loss)
Next:
By default, continue. Write changes to disk.
Continue
It is important to change the settings. By default, the startup file is placed in the partition where windows is located, which will damage the Startup File of Windows 7.
Continue. Select the installation mode.
Installation started until the installation is complete.
Restart your computer, enter win7, and use easybcd to delete the boot guide for the installation system, as shown in figure
Add the centos pilot again:
Restart. You can choose to enter win7 or centos.
After success, you can return to win7 and re-use partaassist to merge the previously allocated 10gfat32 partition.
