Windows Vista's search function is extremely powerful. In addition to the search box in the Start Menu, if you press the "win + F" combination key to open the search browser and switch to the advanced search mode, you can manually specify the search location, date, size, name, Tag, author, and other conditions to locate the search target in a shorter time.
In fact, we can further improve the search efficiency of Windows Vista. Here we take Vista SP2 as an example:
Tip 1: quickly update search results
In practice, we may often need to search for files of different formats in a fixed path. However, it is quite troublesome to reset the search condition every time. In fact, we can create multiple different search result files and then double-click them to update the search results:
For example, after you complete the search for the. ZIP file format, click the "save search" button on the toolbar. The "Save as" dialog box is displayed. You can specify the file name and storage path, as for the storage type, you do not need to change it. After saving, we can get a file with the extension "search-ms", and then double-click the file to get the latest search results, the efficiency is naturally much higher.
If you want to change the search format, use NotePad to open the search result file, find "operator =" contains "value =". zip ", change". Zippered "to" .rar ", and exit after saving the file takes effect. After that, you can directly double-click the search result file ".zip. search-ms" to find that the search results have changed.
Tip 2: Search for files in both formats
You only need to modify the search result file to search for files in two formats at the same time:
For example, if you search for documents in the same format as "images or. jpg", you must first enter "images. jpg" in the "example name" box. Note that please separate them with spaces and click "save search" on the toolbar. After confirmation, you will get the corresponding XML file. Open the search result file in notepad, press Ctrl + H to open the replace dialog box, replace andCondition with orCondition, save the changes, and exit. Double-click the modified search result file, as shown in Figure 1. You can see that the search result contains two different formats at the same time. If you need to search for another format, you can change it in the same way.

Tip 3: Enable Natural Language
We know that Google and Baidu both provide the "or" search function and can use more than two keywords for search at the same time. In fact, Windows Vista also has this function, it is disabled by default.
Open the "Folder Options" dialog box, switch to the "Search" tab, find the "Search Method" section, and select the "select using natural language" check box here, other options can be set based on the actual situation. When you search for multiple types of files by using the suffix, you can directly enter the connector or. jpg. The "or" here indicates the connector "or". The effect shown is displayed immediately after execution. It should be emphasized that we can use this natural language search in the search box in the upper right corner of the window, the search browser, and the "Start search" box in the Start Menu.
