A recent question is in my mind: what are our so-called "interaction designers" creating every day?

Still thinking about such a basic problem, say it really makes me ashamed. I once thought I knew the answer, but now I'm confused.

Compared with designers in other fields, such as construction, engineering, machinery and so on, our interaction designers seem to lack the same qualities that are precious to "designers".

Even compared with the closest visual designers, I think they have, but we don't.

I've been thinking about what "trait" is missing, but I've never had a vague answer.

A few months ago, I was talking to my wife about a rather uninteresting topic, but I remember that conversation so far.

"Do you think you deserve a title like" designer? "she said.

I said: To tell the truth, I feel not good enough, I am a "designer".

Later I have been looking around, which friends in my eyes is worthy of "designer" such a title. I don't really have a few.

For those who do not understand the so-called "user experience design", often ask the interactive design specifically what to do?

I hate it when people ask me this question because it's hard to understand the answer.

On many occasions, people of all kinds of characters ask me, most of the time I am too lazy to explain directly said: "The point of violence, I am the design of the Web page."

Why can't we just tell people, "What are we doing?" Why do we say a bunch of them, their faces still confused?

I've worked with a lot of "interaction designers" and secretly watched the way other people work.

I find that basically the people I meet (myself included) have a common problem: Repeat the same "action" every day, like a robot.

Last week with the White Crow, I said, now no matter what products to me, I basically follow the unified model to deal with. (Objectively speaking, this is not a problem, because the end result is OK).

Repetitive "mode of work". Three-stream designers repeat the three-way Labor, "first-class" designers repeat the "first-class" mode of work. There is no difference in nature.

I'm still passionate about designing a new product, but I'm getting bored with it, because that's the process that's waiting for me.

A closed eyes know what the page is designed to look like, know where there will be problems, know where the key to the page interaction, and even know where to need pop-up prompts, where the need for a new window jump page, where the real-time check form ...

All I have to do is draw these things in the axure.

We are the people who live under the established rules. or "bitter-force interaction designer".

Part 5 Rule

Rules, we all too much emphasize the rules!

A large number of mature "specifications", similar layouts, similar task processes, similar to the so-called good user experience and interactive way ... An interactive designer who is educated under a similar textbook; UPA, interactive experience Day, Ucdchina these similar training courses, such as persona, user-centric, task-oriented and so on, such as the theoretical guidance, such as Windows design specifications, Mac design specifications, iOS design specifications and so on design guidelines; like 8, 10, 20, 50 usability Principles;

I finally know why all of the interactive designers are "long" about the same!

We are following these rules every day, do almost the design, do almost the experience, every day according to the same ued process to do the same thing, but also as stupid as professional!

Part 6 user Experience will die

Previously heard that there is a website called "User Experience will die", a designer from the people to make a satirical user experience.

I was laughing with everyone. It seems that I understand the meaning of this sentence now. Not the user experience will die, but the pattern of user experience design will die.

The pattern of design is killing every one of us's ideas and ideas, the farther we go, the worse we die.

Recall the beginning of the design of the time, I have not been bound by these rules, I am so full of imagination, so there is "design courage", so dare to face the doubts of others. But now, before you do every design, you have to look back and think twice. There is no courage to "take risks", the first person to question me is myself. Is there a violation of the design principle here? is the technique here too amateur? Is it better to do something like Apple?...

Part 7 features

Going back to the beginning, we are less?—— creative than the architecture, industry, and visual designers.

Yes, they also have their own rules and design methods, even more rigorous than ours. But under the rules, they show more creativity, more design, more vivid, and more energy. Rules for them are "rules of the game", everyone in the uniform requirements of the game creativity. While we are doing interactive design, few people can create new things under the rules.

Real designers can see his character and temperament in their design, also called "style". Like Apple, he adheres to almost all usability rules, but still creates a new user experience like the iphone.

We also follow the rules, but create nothing new, which is what we lack: creativity.

Most of us take someone else's "style" as a "standard" to learn, imitate, execute, but do not know how to produce in the product, inject their own style.

Or the lack of quality is not creativity, what we lack is courage, courage to create, courage to design.

Before I wrote it in my blog, I wrote that it was over, and I didn't know how to write it down.

In the current industry environment, I believe that all companies are similar to the situation, all the interaction designers will encounter such confusion.

The industry is in the early stages of development, and all practitioners emphasize "rules" and "methodologies". It's not wrong, we really need to learn more advanced methods and ideas.

But in the future, we should climb a higher level and summon the courage to break the rules.

Throw away the shackles and do the design.
