A post on the management and culture of software enterprises

This book is the result of a course jointly offered by Microsoft Asia Research Institute and Tsinghua University software college. Although it is not thick, it fully shows all aspects of modern enterprise management and corporate culture, it took me about a month to finish reading it (I still went home on the train on the 11 th day). Here are my targeted feelings:

1.Culture:

Rather than talking about corporate culture, it is better to say that as a part of society, a company, you should have qualities, soft capabilities, and so on. It is not only limited to IT companies, it can be said that it is our ability in daily life.

First, we must understand the meaning of corporate culture. It refers to a variety of spiritual phenomena with material as the carrier. It can be cultural concepts, values, historical traditions, habits, and style of work. What are the characteristics of Microsoft culture? I will summarize the following points:
1. comfortable office environment 2. Openness, easygoing, efficiency and results 3. People-oriented 4. Team Spirit 5. Internal Communication 6. Sense of Responsibility and passion. Although I am only an intern at the Asia Research Institute, I can clearly feel the passion of the employees here. When I came here, I found that the employees here are generally very important and fast to walk, when you talk to them about academic issues, you can clearly feel the energy they have shown. I was very surprised when I first came to the Asian Research Institute. There was basically everything here, even a place where I went to bath and bed, and there were various entertainment facilities and table tennis, kinect and so on can be seen everywhere. My personal experiences have given me the true experience of Microsoft's open environment, encouraging innovation, satisfying my sense of accomplishment through work, and flexible and Human-centered management, it also provides abundant resources and a comfortable environment.

2.Management:

As we all know, Microsoft has achieved great success in market management. Why? Here I will take Microsoft's Office product as an example to talk about Microsoft's market management. According to statistics, Microsoft's office software has a market share of more than 90%, which is undoubtedly a huge success for desktop PC applications. For such success, we first realized that the most important user of office software is the user in the enterprise, and its core is the knowledge-based workers in the enterprise, so Microsoft wants to sell its products. First, it needs to clarify what the knowledge workers in these enterprises need. Therefore, analyze the target customers:
1 What do enterprise knowledge workers usually do?
2. What are the problems they face or what are their expected needs?
3. Does the Office meet their requirements?
After these three problems are solved, the Office can be well positioned and managed in the market.

From the above analysis, we can see that we have been focusing on the center of realizing customer value, which is to say that effective market management is centered on customer value. In fact, I felt this problem in our alpha version of bean paste. At that time, PM told me that my interface was very ugly, so I showed my interface to my colleagues and asked them to try it on the simulator first. When they felt unwell, they gave me some suggestions, the final interface is okay. This tells us that the Management Based on Customer values and customer requirements is effective.

To sum up, this book is not only a good book that understands Microsoft, but also a must-read book for new recruits or entrepreneurs. It will make you gain a lot. Especially in the article about culture, what a person should pay attention to in the enterprise and even in daily life is very valuable.
