After installing Linux Mint, found that there is no Chinese input method in the system, the language support after the automatic update process some installation package download failed.
You can use the following method to install the Chinese input method.
1. Install IBUs:
sudo add-apt-repository Ppa:shawn-p-huang/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install ibus-gtk ibus-pinyin ibus-pinyin-db-open-phrase
2. Open language Support, select Update, and it will download a series of related installation packages
3. After the update, in the language column at the bottom, the keyboard input mode system column drop-down box, will appear IBUs, check IBUs
4. The IBUs icon appears at the bottom right of the taskbar, and you can choose Chinese-Pinyin after left-click, select Preferences for other configurations, customize the active input method on the input bar, and set the input method used by default.
You can enter Chinese now.
