Amazon encourages developers: $5000 Virtual currency for each mobile app

Amazon will reward $5000 worth of virtual money for each app developed by developers in order to bring more apps to the new mobile phone Fire Phone, according to the Wall Street Journal web page. According to an announcement posted on Amazon's website in Friday, the incentives include getting $500 in AWS for Amazon Cloud computing services and free promotion on the Amazon Mobile ad network.

Amazon will reward virtual currency Amazon Coins for up to three apps per developer. This virtual currency can be used to purchase apps, games, and in-app products on Amazon's website. Amazon says developers can reassign these virtual currencies to users for in-app purchases or other uses.

Amazon's incentives are far less than Microsoft's reward for Windows Phone app developers. Microsoft has once rewarded $100,000 for developers or third parties to develop applications for its mobile platform.
