The path and archive directory where database resides must be separated
The location of the database is the path of the Redol log file, the path where the datafile is located, the path of the control file
The archive path mentioned here refers to the archive destination of the database.
The path to the database must be in a different file system than the archive path, or it must be in a different ASM disk group.
Why is it so mandatory?
You can assume the following scenario:
If: the location of the database and the archive path in the same file system, such as all on the/oradata file system, because the Rman backup failed, the archive log is not cleaned away, and thus/oradata this file system is blown---that is: The file system utilization rate 100%. In archive mode, if datafile cannot write, the datafile will be offline immediately. Then, the engineer hurried to Rman, execute delete archivelog all, this command will delete all the archive log, and so on after the execution of this command, it is cool ....
