Principles of Database Physics design

1.1 Database Environment Configuration principles

1.1.1 Operating System Environment:

For small and medium-sized database system, the use of Linux operating system is more appropriate, for the database redundancy requirements of a higher load balancing system, you can use the Oracle9i RAC Cluster database method, cluster nodes in the range of 2-64. For large database systems, you can use the Sun Solaris SPARC 64-bit mini machine system or the HP 9000 Series minicomputer system. RAD5 database for read-only operations, RAD1 for OLTP databases

1.1.2 Memory Requirements

For databases under the Linux operating system, Oracle has no more than 1.7G ability to manage the SGA under normal circumstances. Therefore the total physical existence is below 4G. The size of the SGA is 50%-75% of the physical memory. For 64-bit small systems, Oracle database management of the SGA is more than 2G, the SGA is designed in a suitable range: physical memory of 50%-70%, when the SGA is too large will cause memory paging, affect system performance.

Design of 1.1.3 Exchange zone

In the case of a physical presence below 2G, the swap partition is 3 times times the physical memory, and the swap size is 1-2 times the physical memory when the physical memory is >2g.

1.2 Database design Principles

1.2.1 Database sid

A database SID is a symbol that uniquely flags a database and cannot have a name longer than 5 characters. For a single node database, the string as the SID is named for the 5 lengths that begin with the character. For cluster databases, when the SID is named, each node SID is automatically named Sidnn, where nn is the node number: 1,2,...,64. such as Rac1, RAC2, Rac24.
