Learning Linux embedded development, as the name implies, needs to be developed under the Linux operating system, so we need to have a Linux operating system first. Because we are developing under Windows, if we want to do Linux embedded development without installing the dual system, we need to use the virtual machine VMware software, and the purpose of using VMware is to build multiple operating systems under the software. So how is VMware installed and used?
1. Installation of VMware
Download vmware-workstation-full-11.1.2.61471.1437365244 software, take WMware 11 for example:
Then you can click on the next step;
2. Use of VMware
A) Click CTRL + N to create a new virtual machine;
b) Here you can choose to install the operating system later, the next step;
c) Next
d) Next, select the virtual machine operating system to store the file path;
e) Next step;
Here, a virtual machine has been built, but no liux operating system has been installed for the virtual machine, and Ubuntu 14.04 can be downloaded for installation.
3) Installation of VMware Related settings and Vmtool tools
A) Network connection mode settings (3 modes, which will be explained later)
b) settings for shared folders between host and virtual machine (Vmtools installation is required first)
c) Installation of the VMtools tool
Because the ubuntu14.01 interface resolution is small and not beautiful, the tool needs to be installed in order to be able to display the best resolution at the right time.
Click on the virtual machine option, then choose the Install Vmtools tool, then you will need to install the Vmtools tool on Linux.
Using terminal
Find the path to the VMware Tools folder and go to that folder
Here, you need to enter TAR-ZXVF Vmwaretool-9.9.3-2759765.tar.gz-c/tmp and unzip the package into the/tmp/folder.
Then enter y until the installation is complete. (. Meaning is in the current directory)
After that, you'll be able to share the Linux and Windows files.
Well, here we have completed the installation of VMware and Vmtools, and have implemented the file sharing between the host and the virtual machine.
If in doubt, please leave a message ~
