Chapter One A brief history of JavaScript 1.1 JavaScript's origins
JavaScript was developed by Netscape and Sun. The first version of JavaScript, the JavaScript1.0 version, appeared in the 1995 launch of the Netscape Navigator2 browser. JavaScript is a scripting language that can only be done with a Web browser and not run as a normal program.
1.2 DOM
In short, Dom is a set of methods for abstracting and conceptualizing the contents of a document.
1.3 Browser War 1.3.1 DHTML
DHTML is the "Dynamic HTML" abbreviation. DHTML is not a new technology, but a term that describes the combination of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript technologies. The implication behind DHTML is:
Use HTML to mark Web pages as various elements;
Use CSS to set element styles and their display positions;
Manipulate pages and change styles in real time with JavaScript.
With DHTML, complex animation effects can be easily implemented in a flash.
1.4 Designation Criteria
The standardized DOM introduced by the Consortium allows any programming language to manipulate any document written in any one of the markup languages.
1.4.1 Outside of browser considerations
The DOM is an API (Application programming Interface). The definition of the DOM is: "An interface that is independent of the system platform and programming language, where programs and scripts can dynamically access and modify the content, structure, and style of the document" The standardized DOM introduced by the World wide range of independence and scope of application, Are far beyond the proprietary DOM introduced by fighting each other's browser makers.
