Recently, Microsoft's provision of Linux for retailers has become increasingly popular. It is understood that Microsoft yesterday admitted that the online presentations provided to electronic product retailers Best Buy really come from Microsoft, however, he stressed that this was only to help the sales staff "differentiate the major differences between Linux and Windows computers ". Microsoft stated many shortcomings of Linux in this so-called "differentiation" document. For example, Linux does not support camera, iPod, and Other MP3 multimedia players well, it has poor compatibility with printers, scanners, and other devices. It does not support games like World of Warcraft.

Today, the Linux Foundation publicly responded to Microsoft's behavior. Executive Director Jim Zemlin issued a formal statement accusing Microsoft of trying to use Linux-related patents for profit, it is required that Microsoft "Do not frame Linux in the dark", and should compete on the basis of quality rather than using this mean means.

In his statement, Zemlin first praised and welcomed the acquisition of 22 Linux-related patents held by Microsoft from the Open-source organization Open-source license tion Network (OIN) from AST. He pointed out that, microsoft tried to indirectly attack Linux. Microsoft sold its own Linux patents to other organizations or enterprises, and then watched these enterprises sued Linux for patent infringement, thus hitting the Linux curve. Fortunately, the Linux community is actively taking necessary measures, including acquiring various Linux-related patents.

Zemlin also pointed out: "Windows and Linux will coexist as a key part of the Global Computing Architecture soon, consumers who have the opportunity to contact Microsoft's Chief Executive Steven Ballmer should tell Microsoft not to secretly attack Linux any more because the public needs collaboration. Let's pray that Microsoft will realize that if we want to win the market, we should not continue to make small moves, nor use patents or other tricks to bother us ."
