Install Gedit

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install gedit-gmate

sudo apt-get install Gedit-plugins

sudo apt-get remove gedit

sudo apt-get install gedit

Change gedit default settings:

1. Open Preferences from Gedit menu and select Editor page.

2. Change the Tab width to 4.

3. Select (Confirm that there are checked to this option) Insert spaces instead of tabs.

4. Open the "Automatic indentation" option.

5. Go to the View page and open the "Display line numbers" option.
