At Oracle's OpenWorld conference, Oracle CEO Mark Hurd said the global IT budget was on the decline for the past five years, with a 5.1% drop in 2015. As a impact, traditional IT companies such as Dell, IBM, EMC, HP and Teredata have lost $16.4 billion in total revenue over the past two years. To reduce costs while improving the ability to innovate, corporate CEOs to the cloud transformation is imperative.

Five predictions for the next ten years

Mark has made five predictions for the cloud computing industry over the next 10 years.

Forecast one: 80% of enterprise-production applications will be migrated to the SaaS cloud. Mark says 24% of enterprise-produced applications are currently running on the SaaS public Cloud, and this number will rise to 85% in ten years.

Prediction two: The last two of SaaS Cloud application suite vendors will occupy 80% of the market share, and Oracle is willing to be one of them. A shared, scalable cloud suite of applications can significantly reduce costs and complexity of implementation, including the Customer Experience Cloud suite, human resources Management Cloud suite, enterprise resource Management Cloud Suite, enterprise performance management Cloud Suite, supply chain management Cloud suite, and data suite.

Forecast three: 100% of new development tests (Dev/test) will run on the cloud. The development Test Cloud Suite mainly includes: integrated development environment, support popular development language, mobile application development tools, SOA oriented (Service Oriented architecture) development tools, database development tools, integrated development tools, etc. Today, only 30% of development tests run in a cloud computing environment, and that number will reach 100% in ten years.

Forecast four: Almost all enterprise data will be stored on the cloud. Today, more data is being stored in cloud data centers than traditional storage systems, and tens of billions of IoT devices are constantly generating large volumes of new corporate data.

Forecast Five: Enterprise-class cloud services will be the safest IT environment. Mark says Oracle Cloud is already the safest enterprise-class cloud service, Oracle uses unique security technology to manage Oracle Cloud and provides full encryption by default.

The three major challenges of the past five years

When asked by reporters, Mark said that in his five years as CEO, the biggest challenge came from product development, which was to re-write all Oracle software as a cloud computing architecture.

He said that in a short period of time, to achieve the results of today, has been very remarkable. While there are some product development work to be done, the overall software and hardware development work has been completed.

Second, Oracle's sales system has also been adjusted accordingly. Oracle has provided human Resources cloud (HCM), sales cloud, Marketing Cloud (Marketing Cloud), and so on, in addition to the traditional sales objects such as the CIO dialogue, but also with the customer's different business units of the direct dialogue, This requires that Oracle's sales also need to have the appropriate expertise. Oracle provides professional training for existing sales staff, as well as external sourcing of sales experts in related fields.

The third challenge of the past five years is the transformation of the company's business from selling software to selling services, which requires more user referrals. Mark believes that Oracle has so far been very successful in moving to the cloud.

Will increase the profitability of the cloud business

Oracle's PAAs and SaaS revenue grew by 16% in 34%,iaas revenue, according to data shared by Mark, and Oracle plans to boost its PAAs and SaaS business profits by twice times over the next two years.

In FY 2016 and FY 2015, Oracle's new PAAs and SaaS contract increased by three times times compared to the Q1 (Oracle fiscal year starts June 1). Today, Oracle Cloud is estimated to be around $2.4 billion in annual revenue.

Mark expects PAAs and SaaS revenue to be 50% to 100% higher than Salesforce in the year 2015. In the first quarter of the last fiscal year 2016, Oracle signed 200 ERP cloud customers, reaching a total of 1350 ERP cloud customers, much higher than the total number of workday customers.

When it comes to competing with SAP's in-memory database Hana, Mark believes SAP is not making the right decisions about the cloud market. SAP Hana is at the bottom of the infrastructure, but to win the cloud market you have to have a firm grasp of the top SaaS business. "For us, the good news is that SAP spends a lot of time on the underlying underlying technology without more input to the SaaS core application layer. ”

No matter what challenges and opportunities Oracle encounters in the process of moving to the cloud, Mark Hurd says, this is the challenge and opportunity that the entire generation of companies encounter collectively. "We now face a historic opportunity to play a leading role in this process." "(Wen/Ningchuang, the first itvalue of this article)
