Install Oracle 8i on the P4 machine

First, the system environment and preparation work

Preparatory work:
Make sure the Oracle product is not installed on the machine. If available, uninstall first, and then delete all Oracle dependencies in the registry.
Install Oracle Enterprise Edition on Windows Server
Install Oracle Client on Windows 98
Second, the phenomenon of failure
1. When installing Oracle8.0.6 on Windows Server
When you select a custom installation and create a database, the primary application is installed, and you are prompted to "create a database," and then there is no response. After restarting the machine, clicking on the application does not respond to the simple and final break. Click on the application, the mouse appears hourglass, and then disappear, and no phenomenon occurs.
2, install the Oracle8.0.6 on Windows 98 after the successful installation, click on the application, prompted the program to perform illegal operation, is about to close.
3. When installing Oracle8i on Windows Server, click Install application Setup.exe, the program hangs, or disappears, or terminates without any reaction.
Iii. Analysis of Causes
Using Windows NT, Windows 2000 or NetWare operating systems, and Intel P4 processor computers, you will encounter the above problems when installing Oracle8 or oracle8i. The main reason is that oralce8/8i's Oui (Oracle Universal Installer) 1.7.1.9.0 or previous versions used the Sun JRE and the Symantec JIT (Just in time Library), while the JRE and JIT Intel P4 processor is not compatible.
Iv. Solutions
1, Oracle 8.0.6 solution
(1) Copy the installation disk to the hard disk. such as E:\Oracle806.
(2) Locate the Symcjit.dll file under the directory E:\Oracle806\win32\JRE11 and rename the Symcjit.dll to Symcjit.old.
(3) Locate the Jre11.map file under the directory E:\Oracle806\win32\JRE11, open the Jre11.map file with the text Editing tool, and find the segment beginning with bin, where you can see "" "Symcjit.dll" "%jre11%\bin \ "398336 false 00 00 00" "", delete this row, and then save. Note that the properties of this file are read-only.
(4) Execute the installation file Setup.exe from the directory E:\Oracle806.
If the symptom is that the Oracle8.0.6 has been installed, but there is no response (typically on the Windows Server operating system) or clicks on the application such as NET8, the program will be closed ( Typically in the Windows 98 operating system). In this case, do not uninstall Oracle, but directly to the system installation directory under the corresponding location of the Symcjit.dll file renamed to Symcjit.old can.
2. Oracle 8.1.x Solution
(1) Create a temporary directory and copy the Oracle8i installation source program to this directory. Locate the Symcjit.dll file under the directory Stage\components\oracle.swd.jre\1.1.7.30\1\datafiles\expanded\jre\win32\bin and rename it to Symcjit.old. Note that there is also a Symcjit.dll file under the OEM directory to be renamed.
(2) Search to Oraparam.ini file, open it, change the re_memory_options=-mx48m parameter of the row is jre_memory_options=-nojit-ms16m-mx32m
(3) The other parameters remain unchanged.
(4) Execute the Setup.exe file in the Install\win32\setup.exe directory of the local hard disk. A modified parameter file, Oraparam.ini, is invoked at this time.
(5) Select Custom mode when installing and do not create a database.
(6) When the installer calls the network Configuration Assistant Net8 Configuration Assistant (NETCA), you need to force it to terminate and exit the installation interface.
(7) After the installation of oracle8i, each of the following files in the installation directory needs to be modified accordingly.

Use the editing tool to open the above file in turn, add the parameter –nojit, take the dbassist.cl file as an example to indicate as follows:

Modify the contents of each. cl file listed in the same way.
(8) The installation is completed successfully, you can run DBCA and NETCA after the installation is complete.
Install Oracle 8i thumbnail on the P4 machine
1, copy the Oracle software to the hard disk.
2, the hard disk directory file \STAGE\COMPONENTS\ORACLE.SWD.JRE\1.1.7.30/1 \datafiles\expanded\jre\win32\bin\symcjit.dll The file was renamed Symcjit.old

Oracle 9i installation on the 2000 Advanced Server Edition
Workaround:
1. If you have never installed Oracle817 or other versions of Oracle on your machine, you can extract all the files you want to install into a temporary directory, for example, unzip the Temp\install\disk1 directory in e disk, and then use the Search file tool. Find all the Symcjit.dll files and change their name to Symcjit.old, then you can run the Setup.exe file directly under the Disk1 directory and start the installation.
2. If Oracle817 has been installed on the machine, you will need to completely uninstall Oracle and then install the following steps:
⑴ Start-> Setup-> Control Panel-> Admin Tools-> Service
Stop all Oracle Services.
⑵ Start-> Program->oracle-orahome81->oracle installation products->universal Installer
Uninstall all Oracle Products
⑶ run regedit, select Hkey_local_machine\software\oracle, press del to delete this entry.
⑷ run regedit, select HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services, scroll through this list, and delete all Oracle portals.
⑸ runs regedit, searches all Oracle-related items, and deletes them.
⑹ Remove all Oracle-related groups and icons from the desktop, Startup Group, and Program menu
⑺ Restart the computer to completely remove Oracle's directory
⑻ deletes the Oracle-related files, selects the default directory C:\Oracle and C:\Program files\oracle where Oracle resides, and deletes the entry directory and all subdirectories.
⑼ extracts all Oracle files to be installed into a temporary directory, for example, in the E-disk Temp\install\disk1 directory.
⑽ Open the file Disk1\install\oraparam.ini and make the following changes:
Change the source item to Source=e:/temp/install/disk1/stage/products.jar
The jre_location item should be changed to jre_location=e:/temp/install/disk1/stage/components/oracle.swd.jre/1.1.7.30/1/datafiles/ Expanded/jre
The oui_location item should be changed to oui_location=e:/temp/install/disk1/stage/components/oracle.swd.oui/1.7.1.9.0/1/datafiles/ Expanded
The jre_memory_options item should be changed to jre_memory_options=-nojit-ms16m-mx32m
3. Run Disk1\install\win32\setup.exe, installation start, according to the prompts to do the selection, installation, assuming I installed in the D:\orant\ora81 directory.
4. After installation, some services will report errors and cannot be started, these services are:
Net8 Configuration Assistant
Database Configuration Assistant
Although the HTTP service starts, but it reports a series of java.exe errors, you can stop the HTTP Server service by clicking Start->oracle (database name)->oracle HTTP server->stop http server. The installation is complete, but there are all the problems.
5. After the installation is completed, you will need to do the following work, add "-nojit" in the file of all "*.cl" suffixes under the installation path, a total of 10 files, as follows:

6. Up to 4 of the three services are still not able to start, because the work has not been completed.
To download the JRE software to the java.sun.com website, ask for more than 1.2 2 version, then install it on your machine, after installation, use the Bin directory and Lib directory to cover the bin directory and Lib directory under D:\orant\ora81\apache\jdk\jre. The above three services can be successfully launched.
Install Oracle 9i on Win2000
Problem:
Loading file is an error when installing Oracle9.2 in Win2000server, and installing Oracle8 does not make mistakes

Install 8I and 9I on the same PC
Problem:
Installation C:\PROGRAMME\ORACLE the installer to overwrite the version file that was installed first. Do not know how to avoid all possible conflict problems
