Red Hat RHOP 8 released a one-stop Solution
GuideA few days ago, Canonical Ubuntu was in the industry's leading position in the OpenStack cloud system. Other top-level technology companies such as IBM are also interested in joining the OpenStack melee, and new dedicated OpenStack companies (such as Mirantis) are also emerging.

Linux giant red hat is determined to become a cloud giant

However, this has not slowed down the pace of growth. Just before the OpenStack summit, Red Hat announced that the Red Hat cloud kit and Red Hat OpenStack platform (RHOP) 8 will publish messages to common users. Red Hat has a complete set of hybrid cloud stacks, including: application platform as a service (PaaS) Containers, OpenShift, large-scale scalable IaaS, RHOP 8, unified management tools, and Red Hat CloudForms. Customers can either use one of the kits or use an easy-to-deploy cloud named Red Hat cloud suite. RHOP 8 is the backbone of the Red Hat hybrid cloud. RHOP 8 is based on OpenStack Liberty last fall. RedHat recently released the latest OpenStack Mitaka. Mitaka has not been deployed in the commercial OpenStack. RHOP 8 has integrated the Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) Foundation with OpenStack technology to form a cloud platform that can be used on the production line.

RHOP 8 includes:
Automatic upgrades, updates, large-scale upgrades, and small updates can be easily done. The components in RHOP controller (Director) can be automatically updated in an all-round way, including the OpenStack Core Services and the Controller tool itself, this helps provide a healthy and stable OpenStack cloud to minimize downtime. With infrastructure and workload management, Red Hat CloudForms can manage the workload in the lifecycle and OpenStack infrastructure. Red Hat CloudForms allows you to run and manage workloads on Linux and Windows OpenStack, including lifecycle management, usage monitoring and reporting, multi-node business processes, governance, and policy-based access control. Software-defined storage is included. The Red Hat OpenStack platform contains a large-scale scalable and software-defined storage solution named Red Hat Ceph storage. Red Hat Ceph storage provides 64 TB highly flexible object and block storage, which is sufficient for various Big Data projects. The release of this platform is a good opportunity to get more Telecom customers. The deployment of telecom enterprise OpenStack accounts for about 10% and is competing to adopt OpenStack. RHOP 8 has added several new key technology previews to improve network virtualization. Other aspects: Real-Time KVM in this version provides more predictable latency assurance; Improved network I/O performance and DPDK to accelerate Open vSwitch; includes the OpenDaylight Software Defined Network (SDN) plug-in. Based on this, RedHat cloud is designed to provide customers with an all-in-one private cloud solution. In addition to RHOP 8, cloud kit combines the enterprise OpenShift of the Red Hat container application platform with the common management framework Red Hat CloudForms.
Other Red Hat cloud products include:
Unified management experience, management across operations and lifecycles, self-service, and infrastructure monitoring. These powerful management tools provided by RedHat cover rolling update deployment, configuration, patch and subscription management. The new self-service catalog is extended, covering the lifecycle, operation, and financial management of various services deployed by the customer. New infrastructure monitoring and risk management and analysis are added to actively collect infrastructure analysis data, so that customers can manage technical risks before they have an impact. RedHat Insights is a newly released operation management service. Insights provides a variety of monitoring functions across Red Hat OpenStack platforms, Red Hat CloudForms, and Red Hat satellites. KVM-based virtualization platform, which includes the latest Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization, provides simplified migration of virtual machines to virtual machines. Open and scalable software-defined storage, with the red hat Ceph storage being an integral part of RHOP 8.

If we combine all of these, I can see a similar road map. RedHat is following the footsteps of step DEC and IBM, hoping to provide customers with a software stack that meets all their needs. We all know that setting up private cloud is not easy, so I personally think this method will attract more enterprise customers. It is worth mentioning that after red hat has deployed a series of software products, Dell has improved its hardware product deployment. On the same day that RedHat announced the launch of RHOP 8, Dell announced the launch of its RHOP 8 integrated with an open cloud solution:

Dell RedHat OpenStack 5th has the following features:
Provides updated and more flexible reference architectures and verifies core architectures. It includes optimized computing, storage, and network design, and provides innovative verification extension groups. It can be deployed automatically on various layers, hardware and software and can be integrated with the Red Hat OSP controller. OpenStack versions (updated after Liberty) can be upgraded seamlessly. With Dell PowerEdge R630/r730xd 13th generation server, powered by the latest Intel Xeon processor e5-2600v4 (Broadwell. You can migrate a VM from one host to another without stopping the VM.

Both RedHat and Dell face strong private cloud competition, but their moves show that their plans are to defeat competitors.
