The ibus Input Method of Ubuntu 13.10 is a bit problematic. You cannot enter Chinese Characters in emacs 24.3. Finally, I decided to switch to fcitx. I found this was quite good. I could install sogou and Google input methods. Don't hesitate. Try it.
First, delete the original system input method:
Killall ibus-daemon
Sudo apt-get purge ibus-gtk ibus-gtk3 ibus-pinyin * ibus-sunpinyin ibus-table python-ibus
Rm-rf ~ /. Config/ibus
Delete the keyboard prompt:
Apt-get autoremove indicator-keyboard
Then start to install the fcitx input method:
Sudo add-apt-repository ppa: fcitx-team/nightly
Sudo apt-get update
Sudo apt-get install fcitx-pinyin
Sudo apt-get install fcitx-sogoupinyin
Now exit the user and log on to Ubuntu again. The system language input box in the upper-right corner is missing. The fcitx option box is displayed. Right-click "Configure Current Method" and add "Sogou Pinyin" to the "Input Method" tab of the dialog box. Then, you can use Ctrl + Space to switch the language. You can easily use the sogouinput method. Google's input method has not been tried yet.
