If it is an enterprise environment, then you have to find the management of the DNS people to solve the problem, but in their own virtual machine you just change the Hosts file is actually OK.

For example, I created a Web application named Testingmysite.

Hostheader is testingmysite.

Open this path on the server C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc

Locate the Hosts file and edit it with Notepad

Add a line to the bottom of the file 127.0.0.1 testingmysite
