Social media, such as Facebook and Twitter, can make a man addicted to drugs, according to a new study carried out by Intersperience, a market research institute.

About 1000 people surveyed by the study found that 53% said they were distracted when they were unable to surf the internet, and 40% said they felt lonely when they were unable to access the Internet.

"I think I do have an addiction to Facebook," said a Facebook user named Dave. "My wife told me I was addicted to Facebook." Every time I turn on my computer, I will check the Facebook update first. "Dave's experience is no exception," he said. In a survey, many people admit that they are addicted to social media.

"Not just Facebook, but other social media are addictive," explains psychologist Halland Heinz Harlan. Social media makes people to some extent divorced from the real world, indulging in the virtual world. "The problem of Internet addiction affects a lot of people, from people who use the Internet as their only social route to people who are good at socializing and who want to expand their social networks through social media," Hinds said.

Dave said: "I think it's because you always want to know what people are doing." "When you are addicted to social media addiction, I think it will be as hard to deal with as other types of addiction, which is why you should ask for help," Hinds said. Hinds points out that when people feel inseparable from social media, that means they are addicted to social media and their work, learning and personal relationships are negatively affected.

"I think Facebook does have a lot of positive things and I think users should be rational when they use them," he said. Unfortunately, there is plenty of evidence that social media has become a serious problem. "This is still a relatively new issue, and with the development of social media, new social services, such as Google Plus, will have new problems in the future," says Hinds.
