Cloud computing caused by the changes and opportunities

The pace of change is overwhelming. If we widen our horizon and position the present era in the long history of technological and economic development, we can understand more clearly the changes and opportunities brought by cloud computing.

In his book Technlolgy Revolutions and Financial Captial, Carlota Perez combs the history of human society from the industrial revolution of the eighteenth century to nearly 250 years of the information age of today, and reviews five basic technical Revolutionary and dominant social changes have summarized the cycle law led by technology in these changes from sprout to rapid development, restlessness to a burst of bubbles and reconstruction to eventual maturity. At present, we are in an era of information and communication dominated by IT and have experienced the burst of the dot-com bubble. In the process, though not There are illusory legend and manic, but the precipitation and evolution of technology will be more and more solid, of which the opportunities and wealth will be more and more widely.

The trend of the transition

Behind the changes are often hidden in the law, the arrival of cloud computing is no exception. It is not random and accidental, but it must happen when the development of science, technology and social economy reaches a certain level. Here, we can make an analogy between the development of computing technology and the development of socio-economy (as shown in Figure 1.8), so that we can easily explore the law.

In the farming era, every household lived a life like "picking the east under the chrysanthemum, leisurely seeing the Nanshan", making tools by themselves and looking to harvest their own crops, which seemed to mean nothing but only ineffectively meeting the limited needs of basic living. With the improvement of the use of iron tools and production technology, the improvement of agricultural labor productivity has also made the production of agricultural implements diversified and complex, and can no longer be carried out independently by one family. Under this background, there appeared the "second social division of labor" in human history, where artisans engaged in the production of specialized agricultural tools and the peasants specializing in agricultural activities. With the further improvement of social productivity, the production of tools has been gradually standardized and scaled up. The scale of handicrafts workshops has grown larger and the capacity of agricultural production has become larger and larger. Simple exchanges have failed to accommodate the needs of social and economic development. In this context, the merchant appeared and completed "The Third Social Division of Labor." As the division of labor continues to be refined, the efficiency and effectiveness of each individual and society as a whole have been heightened. Human society has gradually shifted from wilderness to civilization.

In contrast to the development of computing technology in recent 100 years, it is not hard for us to find a law similar to social economy. In the early days of the mainframe, companies or agencies purchased, operated, and used computing devices themselves. With the combined development of semiconductor, network and software technologies, computing technology has entered the age of personal computers. There are a variety of service providers on the Internet, and new business models are emerging. In this process, providers are setting their own standards and consolidating their professional status and business size. As such specialization and scale continue to deepen, as technology matures, IT services will gradually become as water and electricity as they can be found anywhere on the Internet. This is the cloud computing, in line with the context of historical development in our time was born. At the moment, this is just the beginning. With the further fine division of the IT ecosystem, cloud computing will nurture a new industry chain. New participants will join, old participants must be camera-changed.
