The survey shows that if you continue to add cloud technology to existing ICT systems, it is likely to increase the complexity of the system again.

Vanson Bourne, who interviewed 300 CIOs and senior IT leaders from both public and private institutions (each with 250 + employees), completed a study in the UK this April-May of the "cloud growth pains: 300 CIOs talk about the barriers to cloud technology".

Although the study was completed in the UK, the findings apply to companies around the world. 59% of CIOs and it leaders surveyed said that enabling cloud technology was the first priority of their current business and it strategies.

The main research results are:

53% of respondents said the quick launch of new services and new applications was their key appeal. In the transportation and logistics industry, 80% of CIOs hold the same view.

60% of IT leaders worry that the cluster will fail, and they think cloud providers don't value the complexity of existing ICT systems. A general worry among respondents is that cloud providers often give a simplistic cloud solution, and the existing traditional ICT is very complex.

46% of IT leaders feel that cloud can greatly promote the "byod:bring your own device", through remote data and application access to make work more flexible. The challenge is how to seamlessly connect the cloud infrastructure with traditional devices and applications.

68% of respondents ' companies have used cloud-based systems in the past two years. The following figure shows the divisions that each enterprise uses for the cloud.

77% of CIOs and senior IT leaders say that their companies are now using cloud-based infrastructure. 87% of CIOs in the media and retail sectors and 84% of telecoms and ICT companies have adopted cloud-based infrastructure. The following figure is the specific cloud usage.

28% of the CIOs surveyed said the cost of abandoning their traditional systems completely was too high. The implication is that they want the cloud platform to ultimately address the complexities of their core business and to meet the company's existing internal and external architectures.

The four major traditional ICT industries are financial finance (30%), Media & Retailing (31%), Transport and Logistics (31%) and government Departments (30%). CIOs in these industries show the greatest resistance to cloud technology. 6% of CIOs said they had no plans to use cloud computing at all.

In the end: CIOs are looking for cloud solutions providers who understand how unique and complex their business is and can integrate cloud technology with existing legacy systems. 59% of respondents said they had to adjust their business strategies and it strategies to suit the situation, while in the adjustment, it was unavoidable to adopt cloud technology at the enterprise level.
