News and technology information Beijing time February 17, the Science and technology website Tabtimes Thursday reported that the Market Research Institute of 100 large Internet retailers surveyed, hoping to study the retailer's mobile phone and tablet computer platform support, the results found that most retailers do not make adequate preparations.

The tablet is now one of the best-selling consumer electronics, with Apple's ipad and Amazon's Kindle Fire selling best. But the latest report shows that most large online retailers have not yet optimized their websites to support tablet shopping apps.

Zmags is a rich media platform for online advertising and E-commerce, which funded hawkpartners to carry out the study. Zmags points out that the results show less than one-third of the retailers that have optimized their support for tablets, while others rely on standard Web sites to provide a flat-screen shopping experience. Some retailers are using ipad apps to address the problems in the tablet shopping market, but 1/4 of apps do not support consumers buying directly on tablet platforms.

Gilt Groupe, Disney and Hints Outfitters, the three retailers, are among the most prominent in mobile services, the report said.

Retailers are devoting more effort to the optimization of smartphone support. For example, the study points out that two-thirds of the 100 major retailers have developed iphone apps, but only half of them offer app shopping support.

Sean Ford, chief operating officer and chief marketing officer at Zmags, said the study found that the number of retailers looking to fully tap the potential of mobile and tablet shopping was surprisingly low. Only One-fourth of retailers are ready to support shopping on flat platforms, but 49% of tablet users now say they plan to use more tablet devices next year to shop.

Ford also said it shows a serious disconnect between the way consumers want to shop and the experience that retailers offer. It is vital that retailers solve the problem before competitors take action.

All the retailers involved in the report are already using social media platforms, especially since all 100 retailers have set up a brand homepage on Facebook. But the report says only Coldwater Creek a website that allows consumers to buy directly from within the Facebook page.
